356A rusty crusty resto

After building the 356 polizei, it was time for something else, something to slam and not worry about thorn fiberglass (At the EBI meeting the rear of the polizei got stuck behind something and ripped).
Via a friend a came across this:
not much more.. perfect to make it into my own.
After working with fiberglass for some years, metalshaping is all new to me, but got me interested more and more. The plan is to use used pars or to make most of the parts myself, not all 100% correct. So a metalshaping-project for learning.
Original/repro parts are VERY expensive for the 356, so this the only way to complete such a project on a small budget.
I will to try to update once a week, but you can also look at my facebook to see the project day-day .
i got a rear used panel and left front fender, all left over from an older resto.
lot of work to the fender, but still better than nothing.
24 october
First, the rear:
cut off the rear
clamp up the new panel with some home-made panel-clamps
welding time
28oktober,
panel beating day.
hammer and dolly to remove some big dents, both in the car as in the 'new fender'
still looking for a better fender, but much better than it was
body dents removing.. The roof was a real mess, prob the car got hit left front once in it;s life.
after some hammering:
need to get a hammer-dolly
all the black markings were hammered out (a lot more on the right hand side), but still long way to go
30 oktober
started making some panels
start easy:
03 november:
and move on to something more difficult.. the battery box (up front)
Not 100% correct, but will work fine for me
05 november - now
making some rear inner side panels, first try.. Right hand side
not bad for the first try..
but the 2nd one is always better..
7november:
cardboard template, transferred
cut to size, and under the pullmax with some home-made dies
cut the sides
bend over the top, hammer the sides/top.. et voila another 90minutes well spent
